Friday Things - Home & Garden Recap 2020
/We’re back! Your favorite “peek behind the curtain” blog post is here.
This week the only thing on our mind is Home and Garden, which wrapped up March 1.
You may have seen us out at the Minneapolis Home & Garden Show last week. The show went back to the Wednesday thru Sunday format and we were ready. The podium was stocked with snacks, childcare was arranged, and all of our favorite logo wear was clean and ready. In addition to our standard large booth we added a small booth on the opposite end of the show. It was definitely interesting, as we saw different people at both ends of the show and I think we all got a kick out of rotating and then seeing a familiar face walk by hours later.
In the world of digital marketing and online research many homeowners make their decisions on what companies to call for window replacement estimates while sitting on the couch. Attending shows like the Home and Garden Show are the best alternative to that because you have the opportunity to interact with the products and meet the staff. People who say “all windows are the same” drastically change their minds when they can see them in person and compare. When they see the glass package, the locks, and bear witness to the construction they can easily start to rulelow end windows out. Flimsy screens, poor locks, think glass packages and metal spacers are all very easy to spot at a show.
At the same time, let’s be honest. NOBODY likes to invite a salesman into their home. We know that. But when you attend a show and you’re able to meet the salesman…. you know if you'd be comfortable with him in your home. You know you need windows replaced, you know you need an estimate.. how nice to also know the name and face of the guy coming out. Even though working those long grueling hours in the booth can wear us down, we also know the value and the comfort we provide to buyers and we know its worth it. We believe that relationships are more important than transactions, and we start building relationships at every show we attend.
Here are a few shots of us at the show. After a long day Saturday it was fun to walk to the elevator and see our bag. We connected with so many awesome people.
Bonus that the show was on LEAP Day so we had a little fun with this selfie frame. Our past customers always stop by to say hello and tell us how much they love their windows. We didn’t get pics with all of them but it was fun when we did.
