Friday Things_February 19
/It feels like a short week for us because there was no school Monday and Tuesday. But then our sweet girl GOT ON THE BUS THREE DAYS IN A ROW and I honestly don’t care about anything else because this fact makes all of the other things better.
Without the home shows every single weekend in February our weekly routine has changed. I no longer need to coordinate Friday night home show set up around the school bus drop off and scooping up T so instead of spending overtired Friday nights in the dark cold setting up our display. We are eating dinner together at home and watching Amazing Race Reruns as a family. Instead of spending all day working our booth, Steve is spending time working on tasks for customers - either meeting with them, completing a service, or preparing for upcoming their install.
For the last 12 years, our winter months have had a definite routine that has fed our sales funnel and that has actually built our business. The performance of that funnel has changed, but without it we have been forced to make a hard pivot and re-focus our time but we have also enjoyed the breathing room it has given us. Has this caused some sleepless nights? Yes. Have we benefitted from the extra time? Also yes. This is the strangest COVID twist for us because we never ever would have decided to go cold turkey on doing home shows, and yet here we are. Cold turkey.
The other piece of this puzzle which is certainly worth mentioning is consumer behavior. Even with no home shows, the exact same number of people are interested in replacing their windows, siding, doors, and roofing. Those people are also forced to pivot how they make their decisions.. so instead of wondering a home show, they are going online. And guess what? We are online too.
Are you considering replacing your front entry door? Check out our new door page on our website as well as this blog about my favorite, the Waterside door.
This weekend and the over 20 degrees heatwave will no doubt include a return to sledding. And a cheeseburger. Definitely a cheeseburger. Maybe even this one.
Enjoy the warmer weather this weekend. Find the freedom COVID changes are giving you. Lean in to the pivot. Eat a cheeseburger. That’s all for now.
But if you haven’t heard our radio ad we do recommend a quick listen. Cheers.
